This radiation has the ability to alter and stunt to growth of body tissue. Young children are more likely to be affected during their developmental stages.
Reduces brain activity in females
Experiment: A group of 30 healthy volunteers, 15 men and 15 women, were given a simple memory test. First, the entire group was tested without any exposure to Wi-Fi radiation and the results were fine.
Then, they were exposed to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi from a wireless access point for about 45 minutes.
Result: During that portion of the testing, brain activity was measured and the women had a noticeable change in brain activity and energy levels.
Effects on fertility
Results of experiments on animals show that some specific wireless frequencies can prevent egg implantation. According to the Global Healing Center, during the study, mice exposed 2 hours a day for 45 days had significantly increased oxidative stress levels.
Your heart reacts when surrounded by wireless networks including 3G and LTE phones. Your heart rate increases as if you are under stress. You may have not noticed this because you weren’t aware of the dangers.
All this seems scary but the use of your wireless networks can be regulated.
Every time you’re not using your wireless device you can put it away. You don’t necessarily have to turn it off, but ensure you switch off your mobile data and any wireless routers in the house.
It is more important to do so before you sleep and avoid sleeping with your phone under your pillow.

Wireless communications have increased significantly in modern times and concerns regarding their safety have grown as well. Wireless communications utilize high frequency radiation – radio frequencies and microwaves. Man-made electromagnetic radiation exerts numerous biological effects that begin at the molecular level and eventually lead to cellular, tissue and organ dysfunction. Electromagnetic radiation exerts its effects at the sub-cellular level by altering molecular rotation and vibration, increasing the collisions between molecules and breaking chemical bonds which ultimately affect structure and function (1). This has direct effects on energy production in the cell. Mitochondria are the organelles responsible for cellular energy production and numerous other cell functions and they are adversely affected by electromagnetic radiation in many inter-related ways.
Electromagnetic radiation causes structural damage to mitochondria. Exposure to radiation causes swelling and cavitation in mitochondria as well as broken, disorganized and sparse mitochondrial cristae or folds (1, 3). The damage increases with prolonged exposure time even though the dose of radiation was low, therefore, long-term, low-dose exposure leads to significant damage. After three hours of microwave radiation, visible swelling of mitochondria increased and after twenty four hours, there was mitochondrial degeneration (1). Damage caused by radiation is cumulative. Radiation also damages the mitochondrial membrane which causes a decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential (1), which is responsible for the proton motive force and energy production in mitochondria, which eventually leads to apoptosis (1, 4) or cell death, since apoptosis is regulated by mitochondria.
Calcium homeostasis is impaired by electromagnetic radiation. Mitochondrial are responsible for regulating calcium homeostasis within the cell. Normally, extracellular calcium is greater than intracellular calcium and most intracellular calcium is stored in the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. Microwave radiation causes a significant increase in cytoplasmic calcium and this causes excess activation of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (1), a nonspecific pore in the mitochondrial membrane, which leads to increased membrane permeability, disrupting metabolic gradients between mitochondria and the cytosol. This then leads to the uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation (1), meaning oxidative phosphorylation is no longer yoked to the respiratory chain to synthesize ATP, so energy production ceases. Remaining ATP made by unaffected mitochondria also gets depleted and cell death ensues. Intracellular calcium increases also leads to swelling of mitochondria and if great, results in rupturing of mitochondria.
Oxidative stress and disturbed cellular signaling is caused by electromagnetic radiation. Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between free radical production and anti-oxidant defense mechanisms. There is a significant increase in reactive oxygen species, decreases in antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase and markers of lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation increase (1) when mitochondria are exposed to radiation. Radiation inhibits the mitochondrial respiratory chain by prolonging the lifespan of free radicals and impairing the anti-oxidant defense system (2). Enzyme functions and signaling pathways that are crucial to energy generation are disturbed by electromagnetic radiation. As mentioned above, calcium homeostasis is impaired and calcium is an important signaling molecule. The activity of cytochrome c oxidase, a critical enzyme in energy metabolism which transports electrons to oxygen to produce water and ATP, is suppressed (1). Oxidative stress and impaired signaling also affect mitochondrial gene expression.
Electromagnetic radiation damages mitochondrial genes and causes gene mutations. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) are more susceptible to external stimuli than nuclear DNA (1) and they lack the repair mechanisms of nuclear DNA (2). Radiation induces mtDNA strand breaks and the excess reactive oxygen species production caused by radiation exposure also causes mtDNA mutations (1, 2). Exposure to radiation causes a decline in mtDNA copy number and mtRNA transcripts (2) which, when combined with mitochondrial mutations, adds further burden to the cell by way of more defective mitochondrial genes being passed onto future mitochondria. Mitochondrial gene mutations in turn amplify oxidative stress by encoding deficient critical proteins required for the respiratory chain (2). A vicious cycle is created by exposure to radiation whereby mitochondria are overwhelmed and cell death occurs.
Apoptosis increases after exposure to electromagnetic radiation (4). Exposure to radiation triggers a series of inter-related events – structural damage, impaired signaling, oxidative stress and gene mutations – that culminates in cell death. The cumulative damage causes an imbalance of pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic proteins which leads to a decrease in the mitochondrial membrane potential (4) and the release of cytochrome c which activates caspase-signaling pathways that lead to apoptotic cell death (1, 4). Although apoptosis may be beneficial in removing damaged cells, when it is excessive, it can be problematic because it can eventually lead to systemic dysfunction in the organism.
Excessive apoptosis caused by man-made electromagnetic radiation is problematic for the nervous system. The nervous system is very susceptible to the effects of radiation. The brain is more sensitive to electromagnetic radiation than other organs because it has a very high metabolic rate and a great demand for oxygen, making it very vulnerable to energy metabolism disorders (1). Numerous pathological changes can occur in the brain as a consequence of excessive radiation exposure such as structural damage, neurotransmitter disruption (1, 3), altered electrical activity and increased permeability of the blood-brain barrier (2, 4). How severely one is affected depends on the frequency, duration and intensity of the radiation exposure (1, 3). Everyone is or will be, in some way, negatively affected by man-made electromagnetic radiation. Because of the ever increasing amount of antennas and towers being installed by telecommunications companies, radio frequency and microwave radiation is nearly impossible to avoid nowadays and it poses a serious threat to public health. It will only get worse unless action is taken to remove and reduce and not simply avoid the sources of man-made radiation.

Le comunicazioni Wireless sono aumentate in modo significativo nei tempi moderni e le preoccupazioni riguardo alla loro sicurezza sono cresciute consensualmente. Le comunicazioni Wireless utilizzano radiazioni ad Alta Frequenza – Radiofrequenze e Microonde. Le Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche artificiali esercitano numerosi effetti biologici che iniziano a livello molecolare e alla fine portano a disfunzione cellulare, tissutale e d’organo. Le Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche esercitano i loro effetti a livello sub-cellulare alterando rotazione e vibrazione molecolari, aumentando le collisioni tra le molecole e rompendo i legami chimici, che alla fine influenzano la struttura e la funzione (1). Questo ha effetti diretti sulla produzione di energia nella cellula. I mitocondri sono organelli responsabili della produzione di energia cellulare e di numerose altre funzioni delle cellule, e sono influenzati negativamente dalle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche in molti modi tra loro collegati.
Le Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche provocano danni strutturali ai mitocondri. L’esposizione alle Radiazioni provoca gonfiore e cavitazione nei mitocondri, così come pieghe o creste mitocondriali rotte, disorganizzate e sparse (1, 3). I danni aumentano con tempi di esposizione prolungati anche se la dose di Radiazioni era bassa, quindi, nel lungo termine, l’esposizione a basse dosi porta a danni significativi. Dopo tre ore di Radiazione a Microonde, il gonfiore visibile dei mitocondri era aumentato, e dopo ventiquattro ore c’era degenerazione mitocondriale (1). I danni causati dalle Radiazioni sono cumulativi. Le Radiazioni danneggiano anche la membrana mitocondriale, cosa che causa una diminuzione nel potenziale di membrana mitocondriale (1), il quale è responsabile per la forza motrice protonica e la produzione di energia nei mitocondri, e questo finisce per causare apoptosi (1, 4) o morte cellulare, dato che l’apoptosi è regolata dai mitocondri.
L’omeostasi del calcio è compromessa dalle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche. I mitocondri sono responsabili della regolazione dell’omeostasi del calcio all’interno della cellula. Normalmente, il calcio extracellulare è maggiore di quello intracellulare e la maggior parte del calcio intracellulare è immagazzinato in mitocondri e reticolo endoplasmatico. Le Radiazioni a Microonde provocano un notevole aumento del calcio citoplasmatico e questo provoca un eccesso di attivazione del poro di transizione della permeabilità mitocondriale (1), un poro aspecifico nella membrana mitocondriale, cosa che porta ad un aumento della permeabilità della membrana, interrompendo i gradienti metabolici tra mitocondri e citosol. Questo quindi porta al disaccoppiamento della fosforilazione ossidativa (1), che significa che la fosforilazione ossidativa non è più aggiogata alla catena respiratoria per sintetizzare ATP, così la produzione di energia cessa. L’ATP che rimane, sintetizzato dai mitocondri non colpiti, ugualmente finisce per ridursi e ne consegue morte cellulare. L’aumento del calcio intracellulare conduce pure lui al rigonfiamento dei mitocondri e, se elevato, esita in rottura dei mitocondri.
Stress ossidativo e segnali cellulari disturbati sono causati dalle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche. Lo stress ossidativo si verifica quando vi è uno squilibrio tra la produzione di radicali liberi ed i meccanismi di difesa antiossidanti. C’è un significativo aumento delle specie reattive dell’ossigeno, diminuzione degli enzimi antiossidanti glutatione perossidasi e superossido dismutasi, e aumento dei marcatori di perossidazione lipidica e ossidazione proteica (1) quando i mitocondri sono esposti alle Radiazioni. Le Radiazioni inibiscono la catena respiratoria mitocondriale prolungando la durata dei radicali liberi e compromettendo il sistema di difesa antiossidante (2). Le funzioni degli enzimi e le vie di segnalazione cruciali per la produzione di energia sono disturbati dalle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche. Come accennato in precedenza, l’omeostasi del calcio è compromessa e il calcio è una importante molecola di segnalazione. L’attività della citocromo c ossidasi, un enzima critico nel metabolismo energetico che trasporta elettroni all’ossigeno per produrre acqua e ATP, è soppressa (1). Stress ossidativo e segnali alterati colpiscono anche l’espressione dei geni mitocondriali.
Le Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche danneggiano i geni mitocondriali e provocano mutazioni genetiche. Il DNA mitocondriale (mtDNA) è più sensibile agli stimoli esterni del DNA nucleare (1) e manca dei meccanismi di riparazione tipici del DNA nucleare (2). Le Radiazioni inducono rotture nei filamenti del mtDNA e l’eccesso di produzione di specie reattive dell’ossigeno causato dalla esposizione alle Radiazioni causa anche mutazioni del mtDNA (1, 2). L’esposizione alle Radiazioni provoca un declino nel numero di copie del mtDNA e di trascrizioni del mtRNA (2), che, quando in combinazione con le mutazioni mitocondriali, aggiunge un ulteriore fardello alla cellula attraverso geni mitocondriali più difettosi che vengono passati ai futuri mitocondri. Le mutazioni dei geni mitocondriali, a loro volta, amplificano lo stress ossidativo mediante la codifica di difettose proteine critiche necessarie alla catena respiratoria (2). Dalla esposizione alle Radiazioni è stato creato un circolo vizioso in cui i mitocondri sono sopraffatti e si verifica morte cellulare.
L’apoptosi aumenta dopo l’esposizione alle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche (4). L’esposizione alle Radiazioni innesca una serie di eventi tra loro collegati – danni strutturali, segnalazioni alterate, stress ossidativo e mutazioni geniche – che culminano nella morte cellulare. Il danno cumulativo provoca uno squilibrio di proteine pro-apoptotiche ed anti-apoptotiche che porta a una diminuzione del potenziale di membrana mitocondriale (4) e al rilascio del citocromo c, che attiva i percorsi di segnalazione della caspasi, i quali portano alla morte cellulare per apoptosi (1, 4 ). Sebbene l’apoptosi possa essere utile nel rimuovere le cellule danneggiate, quando è eccessiva, può essere problematica in quanto può portare infine a disfunzione sistemica dell’organismo.
L’apoptosi eccessiva causata dalle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche artificiali è problematica per il sistema nervoso. Il sistema nervoso è molto sensibile agli effetti delle Radiazioni. Il cervello è più sensibile alle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche rispetto agli altri organi perché ha un altissimo tasso metabolico e una grande richiesta di ossigeno, che lo rendono molto vulnerabile a disturbi del metabolismo energetico (1). Numerosi cambiamenti patologici possono verificarsi nel cervello a seguito della esposizione eccessiva alle Radiazioni come ad esempio danni strutturali, perturbazioni neurotrasmettitoriali (1, 3), alterazioni della attività elettrica e aumento della permeabilità della barriera ematoencefalica (2, 4). Quanto severamente un soggetto sia colpito dipende da frequenza, durata e intensità dell’esposizione alle Radiazioni (1, 3). Ognuno è o sarà, in qualche modo, influenzato negativamente dalle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche artificiali. A causa della sempre crescente quantità di antenne e ripetitori della telefonia mobile installati dalle compagnie delle telecomunicazioni, Radiofrequenze e Radiazioni a Microonde sono quasi impossibili da evitare al giorno d’oggi e rappresentano una grave minaccia per la salute pubblica. Le cose andranno solo a peggiorare se non si interverrà per eliminare e ridurre, e non semplicemente per evitare, le sorgenti di Radiazioni artificiali.

Olga Sheean, una ex dipendente della Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità a Ginevra ora residente a Vancouver, BC, ha scritto una lettera straordinariamente appassionata ed articolata a Gregor Robertson, Sindaco della città di Vancouver, riguardo alla Ipersensibilità Elettromagnetica (EHS) e ai pericoli della proliferazione del WiFi.
Anche grazie ai suoi trascorsi, Olga Sheean è una delle più preziose attiviste in ambito di EHS. E’ stata addirittura in grado di far accettare ad Orca Airways che i telefoni cellulari vengano spenti quando dei malati di Ipersensibilità Elettromagnetica viaggiano sugli aerei di quella compagnia.
La lettera in questione è un documento completo, che delinea gli effetti nocivi di dispositivi e infrastrutture Wireless in fase di lancio e promosse dal Comune di Vancouver. E’ davvero estremamente accurata e vale la pena leggerla.

Ci teniamo a citare un paio di considerazioni importanti presenti nella lettera.
Facendo riferimento a ciò che la storia recente dovrebbe insegnarci, l’autrice dice:
“Un tempo… … La Terra era piatta. Il fumo era buono per voi. Il Talidomide era favoloso nel risolvere le nausee mattutine. L’amianto consentiva un ottimo isolamento. L’energia nucleare era la strada da percorrere. Le colture di grano OGM erano una manna dal cielo per gli agricoltori di tutto il mondo. E gli oli idrogenati erano una scelta conveniente in termini di costo-beneficio. Adesso noi abbiamo WiFi e reti mobili, che ci connettono con tutti, ovunque, ogni secondo di ogni giorno…e creano nel nostro ambiente di vita una proliferazione di radiazioni pervasiva, virtualmente inevitabile, senza precedenti, non verificata, incontrollata ed in rapida crescita. Ma non preoccupatevi; il sindaco di Vancouver dice che è sicura!”
Facendo riferimento alle terribili condizioni di vita dei malati di Elettrosensibilità, i quali vedono negati i loro diritti umani fondamentali, dice:
“Sebbene l’essere esposti a radiazioni nocive senza il proprio consenso e al di là del proprio controllo sia decisamente una violazione di uno di diritti umani, è difficile stabilire esattamente quanti di quei diritti vengano violati. C’è il diritto alle pari opportunità, il diritto di avere mezzi di sussistenza, il diritto di accedere a tutti i servizi e comfort disponibili per i cittadini che non hanno la EHS, il diritto alla salute, il diritto di vivere in un ambiente sicuro, il diritto di scegliere se essere esposti a radiazioni nocive e forse anche il diritto di esistere, considerando i principali. Potrebbe anche essere considerata una negazione della nostra stessa umanità, data la nostra reazione naturale alle radiazioni e l’inevitabile punto di non ritorno dell’intolleranza del corpo per livelli sempre crescenti. Tutti noi abbiamo punti di non ritorno della intolleranza- … “

An urgent message for all humanity:
electromagnetic radiation is damaging our babies, brains, bodies and planet
The following letter (sent to the Mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson, and the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, on 15 June 2016) has generated an overwhelming response from people all over the world. Many of them have electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS), but some of them are discovering this information for the first time and are alarmed by how much it has been distorted, downplayed and denied by those elected to protect our well-being. They have shared their own personal stories and some of them have also written to Robertson, as well as their own elected officials, expressing their concerns and calling for this issue to be urgently addressed.
The letter has gone viral, reaching thousands of people. It has been shared on social media, distributed on various networks, sent out in newsletters and its content re-purposed for other cities.
The information contained in this document applies to most developed countries, since Wi-Fi, cell phones and cordless phones are everywhere, saturating our environment with rapidly rising levels of radiation that’s affecting more and more people every day. I encourage you to share it as widely as you can, even if you are not personally (or knowingly) affected.
The more people I speak to about this, the more I (and they) realize that we’re all affected, in some way—some so severely that they can no longer function normally. I receive letters every day from those who are desperate for a solution and a safe place to live. I hear horror stories—a teenager committing suicide because she’s been forced to sit beside a Wi-Fi router at school, even though it makes her seriously ill; adults who have taken their own lives because there is nowhere for them to lead a normal life; and a 10-year-old boy who can no longer go to school as the Wi-Fi causes blinding headaches and makes him vomit. As much as 50% of the population in many developed countries will be affected by electromagnetic radiation by 2017.
The questions on pages 20 & 21 raise some key issues that politicians, decision-makers and Internet service-providers have an obligation to answer—but will be unable to, since the proliferation of electromagnetic radiation is now so vast and is escalating so rapidly that there is no way to measure, monitor or contain it.
As of 3 July 2016, I had not yet received a reply from Robertson or Trudeau, but I will be following up with them personally, sharing the many stories and messages I’ve received and alerting them to the growing public awareness of what’s really going on. Change will come as a result of your involvement. There is a tipping point for everything—your tolerance for the rising radiation, as well as the pressure we can collectively bring to bear on those tasked to protect our health, safety, human rights and natural environment.

Un ostacolo fondamentale all’attuale dibattito riguardo ai danni da Radiazioni Non-Ionizzanti sui sistemi biologici, e nello specifico sul sistema riproduttivo, è che non esiste un chiaro meccanismo per il quale tali Radiazioni li influenzerebbero. Pertanto, quei ricercatori hanno analizzato gli effetti documentati delle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche in RadioFrequenza sul sistema riproduttivo maschile e preso in considerazione tutte le osservazioni comuni che potessero fornire spunti su un possibile meccanismo.
Di 27 studi analizzati, ben 21(!) hanno mostrato chiaramente una correlazione tra esposizione alle Radiazioni Elettromagnetiche in RadioFrequenza ed effetti negativi sugli spermatozoi, con conseguente danno al sistema riproduttivo maschile.
Fra i succitati 21 studi, 11 dei 15 che hanno investigato la motilità degli spermatozoi ne hanno evidenziato una significativa riduzione; tutti dei 7 che hanno misurato la produzione di Specie Reattive dell’Ossigeno ne hanno documentato livelli elevati; 4 dei 5 che hanno testato il danno al DNA ne hanno evidenziato la presenza.
In aggiunta, tutti e 6 gli studi che hanno investigato la riduzione dei livelli di antiossidanti hanno evidenziato questo fenomeno.
Alla luce di tutto questo, è stato ipotizzato un meccanismo di danno cellulare in due fasi in cui la Radiazione Elettromagnetica in RadioFrequenza, impattati i sistemi cellulari, porterebbe ad una disfunzione mitocondriale (N.B. La stessa evidenziata in altri studi a livello cerebrale, con conseguente danno neuronale) seguita da una elevata produzione di ROS (Specie Reattive dell’Ossigeno).
Forse una campagna seria da parte del Ministero della Salute sul problema della fertilità (vedi Fertility Day), dovrebbe tenere presente questo fondamentale fattore eziologico di infertilità!

Mobile phone usage has become an integral part of our lives. However, the effects of the radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) emitted by these devices on biological systems and specifically the reproductive systems are currently under active debate. A fundamental hindrance to the current debate is that there is no clear mechanism of how such non-ionising radiation influences biological systems. Therefore, we explored the documented impacts of RF-EMR on the male reproductive system and considered any common observations that could provide insights on a potential mechanism. Among a total of 27 studies investigating the effects of RF-EMR on the male reproductive system, negative consequences of exposure were reported in 21. Within these 21 studies, 11 of the 15 that investigated sperm motility reported significant declines, 7 of 7 that measured the production of reactive oxygen species documented elevated levels and 4 of 5 studies that probed for DNA damage highlighted increased damage, due to RF-EMR exposure. Associated with this, RF-EMR treatment reduced antioxidant levels in 6 of 6 studies that studied this phenomenon, while consequences of RF-EMR were successfully ameliorated with the supplementation of antioxidants in all 3 studies that carried out these experiments. In light of this, we envisage a two-step mechanism whereby RF-EMR is able to induce mitochondrial dysfunction leading to elevated ROS production. A continued focus on research which aims to shed light on the biological effects of RF-EMR will allow us to test and assess this proposed mechanism in a variety of cell types.

Modern life is killing children with the number of youngsters diagnosed with cancer rising 40 per cent in the past 16 years because of air pollution, pesticides, poor diets and radiation, scientists have warned.
New analysis of government statistics by researchers at the charity Children with Cancer UK found that there are now 1,300 more cancer cases a year compared with 1998, the first time all data sets were published.
The rise is most apparent in teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 24, where the incident rate has risen from around 10 cases in 100,000 to nearly 16.
Researchers say that although some of the rise can be explained by improvements in cancer diagnoses and more screening, the majority is probably caused by environmental factors.
Dr Denis Henshaw, Professor of Human Radiation Effects at Bristol University, the scientific adviser for Children with Cancer UK, said air pollution was by far the biggest culprit, accounting for around 40 per cent of the rise, but other elements of modern lifestyles are also to blame.
Among these are obesity, pesticides and solvents inhaled during pregnancy, circadian rhythm disruption through too much bright light at night, radiation from x-rays and CT scans, smoking during and after pregnancy, magnetic fields from power lines, gadgets in homes, and potentially, radiation from mobile phones.
“When you look at cancers such as childhood leukaemia there is no doubt that environmental factors are playing a big role,” said Dr Henshaw. “We were shocked to see the figures, and it’s modern lifestyle I’m afraid.
“Many items on the list of environmental causes are now known to be carcinogenic, such as air pollution and pesticides and solvents. There has been good research to suggest a mother’s diet can damage DNA in cord blood. Light at night we know is very disruptive for the body, which is why shift workers have such bad health.
“Burnt barbecues, the electric fields of power lines, the electricity supply in your home. Hairdryers. It’s all of these things coming together, and it seems to be teenagers and young people that are most affected.
“What’s worrying is it is very hard to avoid a lot of these things. How can you avoid air pollution? It sometimes feels like we are fighting a losing battle.”
Diagnoses of colon cancer among children and young people has risen 200 per cent since 1998, while thyroid cancer has doubled. Ovarian and cervical cancers have also risen by 70 per cent and 50 per cent respectively.
The charity estimates that the rise in cases now costs the NHS an extra £130 million a year compared with 16 years ago.
But experts believe many cancers could be prevented with lifestyle changes such as allowing children to attend nursery to boost their immune system, not painting children’s rooms with oil-based paints, avoiding night shift work and processed meats in pregnancy.
The figures were released ahead of the Children with Cancer UK conference which is taking place in London this week.
Other cancer experts said they had also noticed a rise in cancer diagnoses but warned it was too early to draw firm conclusions on the causes.
Nicola Smith, Cancer Research UK’s senior health information officer, said: “Any rise in childhood cancers is worrying but it’s important to remember that less than one per cent of cancer cases in the UK occur in children.
“It’s not yet clear exactly what causes cancer in childhood and research has not shown a link with environmental factors like air pollution and diet during pregnancy. There are some factors which can increase the risk of childhood cancer like inherited genetic conditions and exposure to radiation – but these are usually not avoidable and no one should feel blamed for a child getting cancer.
“Evidence has shown that there are lots of things adults can do to reduce cancer risk and it’s always a good idea to set up healthy habits as a family, like eating healthily, being active and enjoying the sun safely.”
Kate Lee, chief executive of children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent, said that a child cancer diagnosis places a huge emotional and financial burden on the whole family.
“Over the last year CLIC Sargent provided support for more than 7,100 families, more than ever before, but we know that we can still only reach two out of three of those children and young people diagnosed with cancer,” she added.
“As more young cancer patients are diagnosed every year, we know each of those families will need support and are working hard to one day be able to provide those services for every young patient.”
Despite the increase, around 80 per cent of child cancer patients now survive for at least five years. But the aggressive treatments they have as children can have a major impact on their future health, even if they survive.
Tomorrow, Children with Cancer UK launches a five-point plan calling on the Government and the science and medical community to ensure that all children diagnosed with cancer in the UK have access to precision medicine by 2020.

Non si tratta quindi di Effetto Nocebo, bensì di reale nocività dei Campi Elettromagnetici in Alta Frequenza.

In the last two decades, the deployment of phone masts around the world has taken place and, for many years, there has been a discussion in the scientific community about the possible environmental impact from mobile phone base stations. Trees have several advantages over animals as experimental subjects and the aim of this study was to verify whether there is a connection between unusual (generally unilateral) tree damage and radiofrequency exposure. To achieve this, a detailed long-term (2006-2015) field monitoring study was performed in the cities of Bamberg and Hallstadt (Germany). During monitoring, observations and photographic recordings of unusual or unexplainable tree damage were taken, alongside the measurement of electromagnetic radiation. In 2015 measurements of RF-EMF (Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields) were carried out. A polygon spanning both cities was chosen as the study site, where 144 measurements of the radiofrequency of electromagnetic fields were taken at a height of 1.5m in streets and parks at different locations. By interpolation of the 144 measurement points, we were able to compile an electromagnetic map of the power flux density in Bamberg and Hallstadt. We selected 60 damaged trees, in addition to 30 randomly selected trees and 30 trees in low radiation areas (n=120) in this polygon. The measurements of all trees revealed significant differences between the damaged side facing a phone mast and the opposite side, as well as differences between the exposed side of damaged trees and all other groups of trees in both sides. Thus, we found that side differences in measured values of power flux density corresponded to side differences in damage. The 30 selected trees in low radiation areas (no visual contact to any phone mast and power flux density under 50μW/m2) showed no damage. Statistical analysis demonstrated that electromagnetic radiation from mobile phone masts is harmful for trees. These results are consistent with the fact that damage afflicted on trees by mobile phone towers usually start on one side, extending to the whole tree over time.
Negli ultimi due decenni è avvenuta l’installazione di antenne della telefonia mobile in tutto il mondo e, per molti anni, c’e’ stato un dibattito nella comunità scientifica sul possibile impatto ambientale delle stazioni radio base della telefonia mobile. Così, abbiamo trovato che le differenze laterali nei valori misurati di densità di flusso di potenza corrispondevano alle differenze laterali del danno. I 30 alberi selezionati nelle aree a bassa radiazione (nessun contatto visuale con impianti di telefonia mobile e densità di flusso di potenza sotto 50μW/m2) non presentavano danni. L’analisi statistica ha dimostrato che la radiazione elettromagnetica degli impianti di telefonia mobile è dannosa per gli alberi. Questi risultati sono coerenti con il fatto che il danno inflitto agli alberi dagli impianti di telefonia mobile solitamente inizia da un lato, per estendersi all’intero albero nel tempo.

The war rages on about the safety of cell phones. Depending on which side of the argument you listen to, there’s either nothing to fear, or your phone is causing grave harm when it comes into close contact with your body. Where does the real truth lie?
The year 2014 marked the first time in history that there were officially more mobile devices than people in the world – approximately 7.2 billion.
Although significantly lower, the number of cell phone users is forecast to reach 4.77 billion by the year 2017.
That’s a lot of cell phones and cell phone users. But what’s even more fascinating about all these mobile devices is the behavior that surrounds them:
Nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults own a smartphone and over 250 million of them use their phones an average of six days a week
The average cellphone owner checks their phone 110 times a day, or about nine times each hour
A whopping 46 percent of smartphone owners say “they couldn’t live without” their phones
As of December, 2015, 47 percent of homes used only cell phones
More than about half of U.K. cell phone users suffer from “nomophobia,” or the fear of being without their phone (and the number may be even higher for American users)
Clearly, cell phones aren’t going away anytime soon. I use my smartphone every day, too. But how I use mine most likely differs from how the typical user uses theirs…
The Enigma of Cell Phone Safety
Most conventional experts don’t view cell phone exposure as a problem, mainly because they only look at one component of cell phone safety.
Their focus is on the thermal effects of cell phones and how your body absorbs the radiofrequency energy. The industry insists that because the energy of the fields is too low to cause heating of tissues, it can’t have any biological effect.
These thermal or tissue heating effects are measured and assigned a rating known as SAR, which stands for Specific Absorption Rate.
Industry suggests you compare SAR ratings, but the numbers are meaningless
When buying a wireless phone, the industry suggests you compare ratings and purchase one with a lower rating.
Please understand that the SAR rating by itself is virtually worthless.
The SAR level only estimates the heat from the radiation penetrating into your head from a cell phone – just ONE component of concern!
The SAR level does not measure the risk from the frequencies of the cell phone, the erratic pulsing and modulation of the signals, or the magnetic fields created by the batteries.
Scientists now know that many of the effects from cell phones arenon-thermal. In other words, they occur at levels too low to cause significant heating to tissues.
What You Need to Know About Cell Phone Radiation
The frequency of a cell phone’s waves falls between those emitted by FM radios and those from microwave ovens, all of which are considered “non-ionizing” forms of radiation.
When you make a call, text, or use data on your cell phone, here’s what happens:
Your phone sends radiofrequency, or RF waves from its antenna to nearby cell towers, and receives RF waves in return to its antenna.
If you are holding the phone next to your face, as most people do, then about 70 percent of the energy from the antenna is absorbed straight into your head.
As you can see from the diagram below, age makes a difference in how much of this energy can be absorbed into the tissue. A younger child’s skull is much thinner than an adult’s and still developing, therefore more radiation is able to penetrate the brain.
It’s not until around age 20 that your brain is fully developed.
These visual images should serve as a powerful reminder to parents that it’s never a good idea to allow a child to talk on a cell phone held close to the head!
As you move your cell phone away from your head, this radiation decreases rapidly. So, clearly, the further away from your body you can keep your phone, the better.
Incidentally, the manufacturer of one of the top-selling cell phones advises against direct body contact with their phones. This is what they say right on their website:
“To reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speakerphone, the supplied headphones, or other similar accessories. Carry phone at least 5mm away from your body to ensure exposure levels remain at or below the as-tested levels.”
One of the most important bits of advice I can give you is to avoid holding your phone directly against your head, especially while your call connects—which is when the power surge is greatest.
Using your speakerphone function or a safe headset to keep your phone a safe distance away from your body is a much better option.
But Why Does the Wireless Industry Still Insist Cell Phones Are Safe?
You can search online and find study after study that says cell phone usage is safe. The wireless industry claims that thousands of studies have failed to pinpoint adverse effects.
But, is that really true?
First you need to dig deep and find out who funded the study. If it’s an industry-funded study, the results presented are just about guaranteed to favor the industry. Why would they publish results that didn’t?
But just because countless studies might conclude “no risk found,” it doesn’t mean those were the real scientific findings of the investigation!
The earlier one starts using cell phones, the more harmful its potential effects can be
Dr. Henry Lai, a University of Washington scientist in cellular and molecular engineering, reviewed 85 papers on the DNA-damaging effects of cell phone radiation. He and his colleague had found from their own research that cell phone radiation could cause DNA damage in brain cells.
What did he find when he took a closer look at these studies?
A whopping three-fourths of the papers that showed no toxic effects were funded either by the wireless industry or the military. Eighty percent of those that showed potential negative effects were not linked to the industry.
Even Time reported:
Independent studies on cell phone radiation found dangers at more than twice the rate of industry-funded studies.
We’re talking about a very lucrative industry here… The total revenue of the U.S. mobile wireless industry is over $171 billion!
Could it be that the wireless industry may be twisting science just enough to dodge or at least postpone regulation? They do have a lot at stake…
The 2011 Ruling That Delivered a Major Blow to the Wireless Industry
As cell phone usage around the world expands, evidence continues to mount against their safety, even though the industry still insists cell phones are safe.
Possibly the biggest blow to the industry came in 2011 when the International Agency for research on Cancer (IARC), an arm of the World Health Organization (WHO), declared cell phones a Class B carcinogen.
This classification puts cell phones squarely in the same category of certain pesticides and heavy metals as well as engine exhaust.
But that’s not all… There are now more than 20,000 publications in the scientific literature that show significant biological effects at exposures well within safety standards, including about 4,000 that include non-thermal effects.
How Cell Phones Impact Your Cells’ Energy Centers – Your Mitochondria
Cell phones have been shown to harm your cells’ mitochondria
Your body uses electrical fields to communicate between your cells. The electromagnetic fields emitted by the phones are far more damaging to your body because they interfere with your body’s own cellular communication.
Another major way cell phones can potentially impact you is through their effect on your mitochondria within your cells.
Most of your cells have several hundred mitochondria. Over 90% of the energy that your body needs to function properly comes from the mitochondria, so their well-being is essential to your energy production.
Not only are they your body’s primary source of energy, your cells’ mitochondria determine the speed at which your body ages. If your mitochondria are working optimally, your body ages at a normal rate.

Is the Newest Technology Any Safer?
Industry tries to assure us that third and fourth generation cell phones are safer in terms of non-ionizing radiation.
But are they really?
There’s no proof that 3G or 4G is any safer, and if anything, the preliminary research suggests they may be even less safe.
Here’s the problem…
Today’s standards for radiofrequency emissions weren’t designed for cell phones.
Rather, the current federal standards were developed to guard against thermal effects, but remember, as I explained above, that’s not the issue. As we’ve already seen, most of the studies on cell phones show non-thermal effects.
What’s worrisome now is that evidence is suggesting exposure to cell phone radiation can have biological effects without raising temperature.
Radio frequency waves from cell phones have also been shown to produce “stress” proteins in human cells, proteins that the body produces for self-protection.
I agree that getting rid of your cell phone is probably not an option these days. Today’s cell phones are much more than phones – they’re often your camera, video recorder, hand-held computer, and your lifeline to staying in touch with your work and family.
But with all this distressing data and questionable research, there must be something we can do to help minimize exposure. I believe there is…
How to Minimize Cell Phone Radiation Emissions
Not only is direct cell phone contact dangerous, using one while you drive is like driving impaired
So what can you do to make cell phone usage safer for yourself and your family?
First and foremost, I recommend you consider not allowing your child or pre-teen to have a cell phone.
For teens, I encourage you to educate them on the dangers of holding or storing a cell phone close to their bodies and to remind them to use a safe headset if they need to make a call.
And, no one should ever use one while driving, including texting.
Here are some additional suggestions for minimizing your exposure to cell phone radiation:
Reduce your cell phone usage. Turn your phone off when you don’t need it.
Use your cell phone on speakerphone whenever possible.Avoiding contact with your head is the most important safeguard you can take.
Keep your phone as far away from your body as possible.There’s a significant drop-off in radiation exposure for every inch your phone is away from your body. Don’t stow your cell phone in your pocket!
Don’t place your phone against your head while the call is connecting. This is when your phone is sending out its strongest signal and you don’t want this surge of radiation penetrating your head!
Use a landline at home and at work. Just because everyone else goes cordless, you don’t need to.
Avoid using your cell phone if reception is poor. The weaker the reception, the more power your phone uses to transmit, and the more exposure you receive.
Limit cell phone use in your car. The metal parts of your car – the roof, doors, and chassis can magnify the radiation. Plus your phone has to work harder and increase its transmitting strength as you travel between cell towers.
If you must make a call unprotected, limit it to less than two minutes. Radiation exposure is dose-related. The longer you spend on your phone, the more potentially harmful microwave radiation you’re exposed to.
Use low power Bluetooth® technology or a headset to keep your phone away from your body. But just remember that if you use your Bluetooth® or headset a lot, you are still exposed to radiation right near your head.

Before I carefully studied this issue, I used my cell phone regularly and thought my off-the-shelf headset protected me from my phone’s emissions.
